Welcome to Ladakh

A bike ride in Ladakh is probably one of the most breath-taking, challenging, and awe-inspiring experience. This part of the Himalayas with its high passes, and amazing landscapes has left a lasting impact on those lucky travellers who have got a chance to visit it. However, riding a motorcycle in Ladakh is not so easy as it may seems as you are biking on an altitude of around 3,500 m and above. In addition, the distance that you can cover in a day depends on the road and weather conditions.

Nubra Valley & Lakes
9 Days / 8 Nights

​Highlights: Leh - Nubra Valley - Pangong Lake - Korzok - Tso Moriri - ​Tso Kar


Day 1 Flight to Leh
This must be one of the greatest flights in the world! Enjoy the view of the mountains the closer you come to your destination, Leh, on 3,500 m of altitude. After arrival, transfer to your accommodation. Day at your leisure for acclimatization. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 2 Leh to Nubra valley (120 km)
After breakfast, you will leave for a scenic ride to Nubra Valley via the world's highest motorable pass, Khardong-la (18380 feet/5,600 m). From the top of the pass you can enjoy great views of Zangskar and Karakoram mountain ranges in the Himalayas of Ladakh. En route, you might spot wild animals like marmots, eagles, wild goats, and see a lot of high altitude herbs, flowers and bushes. You will pass the high-altitude mountain villages of Khardong,  Khalsar and Tsati near the river bed of the Shyok  river before reaching Deskit, the capital of Nubra Valley. Visit of the beautiful monastery at Deskit. After lunch visit Hunder village and the sand dunes with its double-humped camels. Return to Deskit. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Deskit.

Day 3 Nubra Valley to Leh
After breakfast, you will visit the other side of the Nubra valley, villages like Sumor, Khyagar and Panamic. At Panamic, you can see some hot springs. Similarly, visit the  volcanic crater lake of Tirisha which is considered very sacred by the local people. Later on, the ride takes you back to Leh. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 4 Leh - Pangong Lake (150 km)
After breakfast, you will leave for the famous Pangong Lake via Karu and the mighty pass Chang-la (17800 feet/5,300 m) towards the eastern part of Ladakh known as Changthang, the land of nomadic people. One third of Pangong Tso is in India while the major part lies in China.  While riding your motorbike, you will pass many villages before you get there. Overnight in hotel at Pangong Lake.

Day 5 Pangong Lake - Chumatang (140 km)
From Pangong Lake you have to ride via Karu to Chumatang. En route, you will pass many small hamlets before reaching today’s destination with its hot springs. Overnight in a family house or guesthouse in Chumatang.

Day 6 Chumatang - Korzok (110 km)
From Mahe Bridge you gradually will climb to the Namshang-La (4,800 m), pass a small lake called Thadsang Karu before your reach the village of Korzok near Tso Moriri. En route possibility to see the nomads. The high-altitude lake of Tso Moriri is a place where you might see migratory birds. Exploring the village and its monastery. Overnight in guesthouse in Korzok.

Day 7 Korzok - Tso Kar (85 km)
Today, you will cross a small pass called Polo Gongka and ride through the Puga Valley with its geysers and sulphur deposits. The local popu-lation of the valley is using the hot springs for the treatment of different ailments. The lake of Tso Kar is another high-altitude lake and a breeding place for migratory birds. Rest of the day for spotting black-necked cranes and other migratory birds. Overnight in guesthouse at Tso Kar.

Day 8 Tso Kar - Leh (160 km)
We leave Tso Kar via Taglang-la (5,300 m), Rumtse, Meru, Gya, Upshi, Karu, and Thiksey to reach Leh. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 9 Departure from Leh to your next destination
Transfer to airport. Fly from Leh with sweet memories from Ladakh.

Day 1 Flight to Leh

Day 2 Leh & Indus Valley
This day is reserved to explore the Leh area and Indus Valley by motorcycle. It is another day to acclimatize to the high altitude while covering  some essential tourist spots: Leh palace, Shanti Stupa, Hall of Fame Museum, a ride to the castle of Shey, Thiksey monastery, Stok Palace and Hemis monastery. It is also an important day to get used to your bike and the traffic conditions. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 3 Leh - Lamayuru (120 km) - Alchi - Likir - Leh
This day we ride out to explore some very unique landscapes of this Himalayan region. We will have a scenic drive in the Indus valley in western direction to visit the Lamayuru Monastery and its moonland. On our way back, we will stop at Alchi and Likir to visit its monasteries, enjoy the scenic Bazgo plains, and the phenomenon of Magne-tic Hill. We will ride back to Leh by late after-noon. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 4 Leh - Nubra Valley (120 km)
Having spent three nights at Leh you are now fairly acclimatized and used to your motorcycle. Today you will ride on to the world's highest motorable pass, the Khardong-la (18,380 feet/ 5,600 m) and enjoy great views of Zangskar and Karakoram mountain ranges of Ladakh Himalayas. We continue into the beautiful Nubra Valley, passing villages of Khardong, Khalsar, Tsati etc. before arriving at Deskit, the capital of Nubra Valley. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Deskit.

Day 5 Nubra Valley - Leh
After breakfast, we explore the beautiful gompa (monastery) of Deskit, and then have a pleasant ride to Hunder sand dunes with double-humped bactrian camels. We continue to the other side of the Nubra Valley, passing villages like Sumor, Khyagar, and Panamic. At Panamic, you can see some hot springs. Similarly visit the  volcanic crater lake of Tirisha which is considered very sacred by the local people. Later on, ride back to Leh. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 6 Leh - Pangong Lake (150 km)
Today we leave Leh to reach the eastern part of Ladakh known as Changtang, the land of the nomads. Via Karu we ride over the mighty Chang-la pass (17,800 feet/5,300 m) to reach around noon Pangong Lake that lies on an altitude of around 4,400 m. One third of the lake is in India, the rest of it extends deep into China. Overnight at a hotel at Pangong Lake.

Day 7 Pangong Lake - Leh
After breakfast, we return back to Leh. At Leh, spend your time leisurely at your accommodation, stroll in the bazaar to buy some gifts, etc. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse in Leh.

Day 8 Departure from Leh to your next destination
Transfer to airport. Fly from Leh with sweet memories from Ladakh.
